Applying to the Young Professionals Program
Leadership Arlington invites you to apply for the Young Professionals Program Class of 2013!

Please learn about the Young Professionals Program, including its required time and financial commitment, before applying. Due to program demand, it may take more than one application cycle to be selected.
The deadline for applications is July 27, 2012.
ATTENDANCE
Check your calendar prior to applying. Click here to check your calendar against the dates to ensure no known conflicts exist prior to application. Please reserve these dates until you are informed of your application status in August.
Young Professionals Program participants are expected to attend all sessions, including the mandatory opening and closing retreats. Participants must be present at both the Opening and Closing Retreats in order to graduate. No more than two excused session absences are permitted. Any participant who has an unexcused absence, misses either of the retreats, or who misses more than two sessions will be dropped from the program and will not graduate with their classmates.
QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants must:
Be at least 21 years old.
Be willing to commit the required time to Leadership Arlington.
Be committed to using your developing leadership skills and knowledge for the long-term benefit of the community.
CRITERIA
The Leadership Arlington Young Professionals Program is an issues and skills-oriented leadership development program designed to inform, engage and increase awareness through interaction with community leaders. Members are selected based on the following criteria:
- High standards of personal integrity;
- Record of service in community activities, or a desire to increase community involvement;
- Desire and ability to set and attain goals as demonstrated by significant career, personal and community achievement;
- Commitment necessary of the time and effort to complete the program; and
- Representation from a cross-section of the population.
While applications are confidential, Leadership Arlington may use the information submitted by class members in printed materials. To assist in selecting a class that reflects the diversity of the community, you are asked to specify your gender, race and/or ethnicity.
TUITIONTuition for the Young Professionals Program is $1,750. The participant and/or employer/sponsor will be expected to pay tuition by
September 1, 2012. Tuition covers all program costs, including food, transportation and staff time. Tuition is non-refundable in whole or part in the event that the participant fails to complete the program due to non-attendance or other circumstances. Payment plans are available upon request. SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE
LeadershipArlington encourages qualified candidates to apply to the Young ProfessionalsProgram. A limited number of partial scholarships are available. Candidatesinterested in applying for financial assistance should submit a one-pagedocument with the amount requested and the reason for the request. Requestsmust be submitted with your application via email to COO Liz Nohra at
LNohra@LeadershipArlington.org. Admissions decisions are need-blind.
All scholarship requests will remain confidential.APPLICATION TIPS
- Information contained in this application determines whether you will be selected for the program. Answer questions thoroughly and completely.
- Take time to highlight what unique professional and personal experiences and perspectives you bring to the group.
- Past community service or volunteerism is strongly considered, however, a desire to deepen involvement is equally important.
- No acronyms, please.

- Each applicant is required to have their supervisor review and sign the statement of support in order for their application to be complete.
