Leadership Arlington's Programs

Signature Program
The Leadership Arlington Signature Program is a ten-month, tuition-based program that provides a forum for the business, nonprofit and public sectors to discuss issues and opportunities facing Arlington, while enhancing personal and professional leadership skills.  Through seminars, study groups, skill building, and interaction with community decision-makers, Leadership Arlington develops leaders with vision and commitment for our community.

Young Professionals Program
Leadership Arlington’s newly developed Young Professionals program will invest in the future of the community’s leadership through training emerging leaders in the key issues and skills that will ensure success.  The program will focus on philanthropy, civic engagement and professional skill development over the course of 10 sessions.  Our Young Professionals program is a dynamic and innovative solution to our community’s growing young professional population.  The program will ask its participants to think critically about their leadership engagement and level in involvement in the community.

Youth Program
The Youth Program is designed to enhance leadership skills and awareness of the need for philanthropy, community service and civic participation in young people.  For two weeks, the youth program meets at different business, non-profit, and government locations throughout Arlington County to provide students the opportunity to be exposed to diverse organizations and meet with leaders from our community.   Training is hands-on, experiential learning.  Daily sessions focus on professionalism, culture competency and commitment, mentoring, facilitation, and philanthropy.

Executive Forum
The Leadership Arlington Executive Forums provide a confidential learning environment for CEOs, business owners, and executives to grow as leaders, seek counsel from their peers on business challenges, and receive support in achieving their goals and designated outcomes.  Composed of members from non-competitive industries from a variety of community sectors, forum partners act as a confidential unofficial board of advisors who bring insights and combined support of experiences to the table.  Real business and organization issues provide the platform for practicing new behaviors.

Leadership Institute of Northern Virginia
The Leadership Institute of Northern Virginia’s mission is to create capacity amongst Northern Virginia non-profits through education and training. The Leadership Institute of Northern Virginia is comprised of three programs: ON BOARD!, Black Belt for Nonprofits and Customized Board Trainings.  ON BOARD!  is a twice-yearly workshop where individuals attend a one-day seminar that gives a "101-style" in-depth overview of the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members.  The Black Belt for Nonprofits programming takes the learning up a level from ON BOARD!.  These "201-level" breakfast educational sessions are designed for the CEO, or senior staff, of a nonprofit organization and a representative of that organization's Board of Directors.  Customized Board Trainings consist of individual, one-on-one training with nonprofit boards.

Speaker Series
Leadership Arlington offers the community six workshops a year focusing on issues and topics facing the Arlington community and surrounding area.  The fall and spring Speaker Series consist of two seminars and one skills workshop.  The topics are chosen to help prepare, educate and inspire the community.
