New to a board? We’ll help you maximize your impact. Looking to join a board? We’ll show you how, and train you, too. A veteran board member? We’ll provide a refresher to keep you energized and engaged.

ON BOARD! trainings are one-day seminars designed to give broad, basic overview of the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members. Samples of past topics include fundraising and corporate partnerships, maximizing volunteers, and policy-based governance.

The ON BOARD! faculty is made up of trained facilitators and seasoned nonprofit executives eager to share their years of “real world” experience with board members and potential board members of nonprofit organizations.

Program Specifics

ON BOARD! trainings are one-day seminars held twice each year. Nonprofit board members and staff members receive an in-depth overview of the roles and legal responsibilities of nonprofit boards. Over 40 participants gather to gain a deeper understanding of how to increase one’s efficacy as a nonprofit board member.

Since the program’s inception in early 2009, 97% of participants at Leadership Arlington’s ON BOARD! indicated that the seminar was “superior” or “excellent.”  Past participants have said of the workshop, “It was great!  A needed course for any board member – but especially for a new one such as myself!”
